About Dr. Aamer Nisar

Dr Aamer Nisar is a highly qualified senior orthopaedic surgeon. He graduated from King Edward Medical University, Lahore and then moved to the UK for higher education and surgical training. During 20 years abroad, he had the opportunity to work in some of the most renowned institutes in the UK, Canada and the USA.

Dr Nisar had his initial surgical training from Ireland, obtained MRCS from Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow, and CCBST from the Intercollegiate Board. He did his specialist orthopaedic training from Sheffield (UK) and was granted FRCSOrth (Royal College of Surgeons, Glasgow) and a CCT (Intercollegiate Board). He furthered his orthopaedic surgical experience with arthroplasty fellowship from Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow and trauma fellowship from St Mary’s Hospital, Imperial College, London. He was awarded travelling fellowships by the British Orthopaedic Association, during which he worked with world renowned surgeons in the in the field of primary joint replacements and revision joint replacements. He worked with Dr Daniel Berry at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, and Dr Chitranjan Ranawat, Hospital for Special Surgery, New York, USA. With another fellowship award in Trauma and Reconstruction from AO International, he worked at a centre of excellence, Vancouver General Hospital, Canada.

After extensive training in the field of orthopaedics, he was appointed a Consultant at Hull University Teaching Hospitals. He was also a Senior Lecturer at Hull York Medical School, and Clinical Tutor with Department of Medical Engineering, Hull University. He is a teaching faculty of a number of regional, national and international courses/meetings. He has participated extensively in European meetings as well as the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, USA. He has published a number of scientific papers and contributed to postgraduate books. He is also an examiner for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the Knee Society, Pakistan.

Dr Nisar has special expertise in revision joint replacements in which he has carried out a large number of one stage and two stage revisions including proximal and distal femur replacements, along with megaprosthesis for revisions and bone tumours. During this stay in the UK, as a leading arthroplasty surgeon in Yorkshire, he developed a niche in revision of infected joint replacements, both two-stage revisions and one-stage revisions in selected cases. He also excels in computer assisted joint replacements for which he did a Diploma in Computer Assisted Orthopaedic Surgery, and has trained a number of young surgeons in this field.

After working in the UK for nearly 20 years, I moved to Pakistan due to family reasons in 2019. Here I
work as a full time orthopaedic consultant in a teaching hospital in Islamabad, with clinical and academic
responsibilities. I do a 1:7 on call for trauma and deal with all kinds of general orthopaedic trauma. On the
elective side, I have a diverse general orthopaedic practice, with subspecialty interest in arthroscopic
surgery, Primary and Revision Lower Limb Arthroplasty. I am an examiner for MRCS at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and faculty at national and international conferences

Effect of plasma treatment on Hydroxyapatite Polyethylene (HAPEX) topography and its

plasma spray. I have measured the surface energy, looked at topographic changes and reactivity
